We were thrilled when the school accepted the challenge of helping us with our hedgerow project.

Very quiet and reserved at first it was a delight to see the children grow in confidence as they worked together to plant saplings and go on a nature trail around the lake.

Here are just a few things the children had to say at the end of the session:

“Today was really interesting and it was fun to learn all new things about types of trees, plants and flowers”
Esther Y6.

“I most liked the long walk, and I learnt that dead hedges are good for the animals in the field, and they can nest behind it”
Erin Y6

“I loved planting trees and looking at nature with my new friends”
William Y6

“My favourite was planting because I got to use a shovel”
Henry Y3

We hope to work with Estcots Primary School again soon.
