Trees were felled by UK Power networks in 2021 to prevent damage to powerlines and power cuts. Many of the trees were suffering ash dieback disease.
Where practical, oak trees were left behind as ‘Mother trees’ to seed the next generation.
The Charity must manage this area to ensure that the trees grow where they will not impede powerlines, but we have allowed natural regeneration to happen as this is an effective and efficient method for biodiversity.
This open area has become a great wildflower habitat supporting all sorts of insects, butterflies, bees, and small mammals. Please look out for Early Purple Orchids in April.
