A small group from 1st West Hoathly Scouts came to help us to erect bird boxes across the estate.

Under the expert tutelage of Martin Rann, from Sussex Ornithological Society, 15 boxes for treecreepers and other small birds were put up in Warren’s Wood, Bushy Wood and Hastings Wood. Martin had previously surveyed the estate for us and come up with a list of recommendations based on his findings.

These boxes follow on from barn owl and tawny owl boxes also erected in different locations earlier in March. Martin will be back in May to see whether the nest boxes have been found by our bird community.

Thank you, Scouts, a great effort!
